Finally… A guide to help you become the next European astronaut!

Hi Wannabe Astronaut!

As you already know, a new European astronaut selection takes place from March 31 to May 28, 2021 (period to submit your application).

12 years
that we wait for it… FINALLY the time has come!

This is a unique opportunity for you to try to join the 7 active European astronauts and to contribute to the present and future objectives of ESA towards the International Space Station, the Moon and beyond.

The excitement is HUGE across Europe and thousands of wannabe astronauts are super-motivated! As with each new selection, the competition will be TOUGH …

So what to expect from each step of the selection?
How to optimize your application?
How to stand out from the crowd?

When ESA published its press release announcing the new astronaut selection, we have received DOZENS of messages requesting individual coaching.

Well, we have good news and bad news:

The BAD news is …

… we currently do not have enough staff members to coach all of the wannabe astronauts who have contacted us. We are sorry and we work hard to provide you with this individual coaching in the near future!

The GOOD news is …

… we planned this!
It’s been several months since we know that a new European astronaut selection was scheduled for early 2021. Therefore, we created a guide to coach all those who ask us for help. And this guide, we called it …

This guide gathers the best of the information about the European astronaut selection made available by ESA over the years through their websites, publications, social networks, press conferences and newsletters, as well as original comments and content inspired by this information (in particular to offer you a lot of exercises to practice astronaut selection tests).

Frequently Asked Questions

“I’m super-motivated but I’m too young right now …”

You can’t be too young to PREPARE now to try to become an astronaut! There are so many people who are on the contrary, too old to become an astronaut. They have no chance of ever getting a required degree and professional background, or to shape their life in such a way that they have the needed skills.
But you (lucky you!) YOU have the power to shape your life the way you want it to be! Go choose a STEM degree and enjoy it! Ask for our “Ultimate Guide” and have fun trying to answer the tests! You are the hope of our future generations!

“What do the tests in Chapter 3 ‘Time to Practice’ look like?”

This example test (and also some other tests in the guide) is inspired by real 2008 astronaut selection tests but the sequences are different and the video format with a countdown makes it very immersive. Other tests are not exercices from the 2008 selection tests but explore the same skills (memory retention, spatial orientation…).
