Mission schedule TBD.
SpaceX Inspiration4 mission overview
Inspiration4 is a SpaceX Crew Dragon mission to low Earth orbit (LEO). It is the first all-civilian mission to space, which means it is the first crewed space mission to fly with only private citizens on board.
Inspiration4 launch is scheduled on October 21, 2021, from LC-39A launch pad, Cape Canaveral, Florida (U.S.A). Then the SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule will travel across a low earth orbit on a multi-day journey without docking to the International Space Station.
The 4-person crew will be commanded by Jared Isaacman, founder and CEO of Shift4 Payments and an experienced pilot. One seat will be filled by Hayley Arceneaux, a physician’s assistant at St. Jude Hospital and former bone cancer patient. One seat will be filled by Chris Sembroski who won the raffle as part of an effort to raise funds for the hospital. The last seat will be filled by Dr. Sian Proctor, an entrepreneur selected by a jury.
SpaceX Inspiration4 patch
The Inspiration4 mission patch contains many references to the number “4”, in reference to the number of people who will board the SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule, and in reference to the company owned by the mission commander Jared Isaacman (Shift4 Payments).
These elements are: the name of the mission displayed on the patch (Inspiration4), the 4 astronauts, the 4 stars, the 4 jets that escape from the back of the space capsule.
Above the name of the mission, the young child refers to the logo of St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, which will receive funds as part of the Inspiration4 mission.
