The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), the Indian space agency, has just commissioned a new medium-sized launcher: the GSLV MK III (Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark III), also known as LVM3 (Launch Vehicle Mark 3). Its launch capacity is 10 tons in low orbit and 4 tons in geostationary transfer orbit. Monday’s shooting is a success with the launch of the GSM 19 telecommunications satellite.
This rocket was chosen to carry the future Indian inhabited space capsule. New Delhi wants to make a first manned flight around 2020.
